Circuit / Tabata Timer

note

Each of the timer editors have common properties. You can read more about these at Common Properties.

The circuit timer will perform a list of exercises in the order provided.

The circuit timer also comes with some optional conveniences allowing you to:

  • Repeat the list of exercises a defined number of times.
  • Separate the exercises with a rest interval.
  • Separate each repeat of the list with a different rest interval.
  • Prepend a warm-up interval at the start of the timer.
  • Append a cool-down interval at the end of the timer.
  • Perform each exercise for all its sets before moving to the next (Tabata Style)

Number of sets

The number of times of each exercise in the exercise list will be performed.

Exercises

The list of exercises to be performed within the workout. Tapping on an item within the list will take you to the interval editor where you can update the values of the exercise.

Adding an Exercise

You can add a new exercise to the list by tapping the Add Exercise button at the bottom of the list.

Moving Exercises

Drag and Drop

You can move an exercise by tapping and holding the drag handle (≡) on the right of the row and then moving the exercise to the desired location.

Cut & Paste

It's possible to move many exercises at once using the cut & paste controls.

First copy the exercises by selecting the ones you want to move in the order you would like them to reappear. You do this by tapping the circle on the left of the row. The tap the Cut or Copy buttons from toolbar (you may need to close the keyboard to see this).

Next you can either paste the exercises at the bottom of the list by tapping the paste button from the toolbar. Or you may paste the exercises beneath a particular exercise by tapping and holding the exercise and then selecting the Paste option from the popup menu.

Deleting Exercises

To delete an exercise you should first select the exercises you want to delete by tapping the circle on the left of the row. Then tap the Cut button from the toolbar (you may need to close the keyboard to see this).

Tabata Style

Enabling the tabata style option will change how the exercises are ordered.

Rather than performing each exercise in turn and repeating the entire list, each exercise will be performed for the defined number of sets before moving on to the next exercise.

This is based on the CrossFit definition of Tabata rather than the term Tabata being used synonymously with the term HIIT.

Randomise Order

Enabling randomise order will shuffle the list of exercises, and then perform the shuffled list for each of the repeats.

On iOS it's possible to enable randomisation of each set by visiting the following URL in Safari on the device that Seconds is installed on:

seconds://?action=randomise-each-set&value=true

Optional Intervals

Rest Between Intervals

An interval that will be added between exercises if it has a valid duration. This interval will also be added between repeats of the exercise list if the Rest Between Sets interval does not have a valid duration.
